Loft Insulation

Around a quarter of heat in the home is lost through the roof. Loft insulation is a quick and easy way to reduce this.

What is loft insulation?

Loft insulation is a barrier of material in the roof space that traps heat.

The most common type of loft insulation comes in rolls. It’s unrolled across your loft floor between and over the joists.

Most loft insulation materials work by preventing the movement of heated air through the material. The fibres of matting trap air within it, acting almost like a blanket for the home.

The loft is already insulated, is more required?

Many homes have some insulation but it may not be enough to be fully efficient. You can have old insulation topped up to a depth of 450mm.
Does the loft need to be cleared before installation?

Yes, the loft will need to clear of items and stored objects before we can install Loft Insulation.
How long does it take?

Depending on the loft size, installation will take around 2-3 hours.
Will insulation lead to condensation in the loft?

During installation we will also install vents to allow for air flow in the loft space. This is so excessive moisture can escape the roof, protecting the roof and the rest of the house, as well as the newly installed insulation from becoming damp.
Can the loft still be used for storage after installation?

Yes, however, the insulation should not be compressed by boarding or stored items as this will reduce effectiveness. Any boarded areas should be raised using loft legs or stilts.
